Hispanic Heritage Month & Estrella Awards
Committee Overview:
Our committee plays a crucial role in recognizing the individual contributions of Hispanic and Latino individuals to workplaces and communities across Central Washington. We are a grassroots team dedicated to upholding the spirit of Hispanic Heritage Month and making a lasting impact on our community.
Our Vision:
We aspire to transform the Hispanic Heritage Month Highlights and Estrella Celebration Event into Central Washington's premier Hispanic and Latino heritage celebration and campaign. Our vision is to foster inclusivity by welcoming diverse partners to join us in raising awareness of Hispanic Heritage Month in the Yakima Valley and Central Washington at large. We aim to unite our community, creating a thriving environment for our people and commerce.
Committee Philosophy:
It's important to note that this event is not a fundraiser for the Chamber. Instead, it is one of the significant ways CWHCC gives back to and supports our broader community, extending beyond chamber membership. We view this event as a means for the CWHCC to maintain a high profile and reputation of service to the community.
Estrella Awards:
The Estrella Awards serve as the culmination of the Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM) Campaign for the CWHCC Board and Sponsors. These awards aim to honor individuals who have made remarkable contributions to our culture and community. We publicly acknowledge them as Estrella nominees, creating an experience where nominees feel valued and represented. Our goal is to shine a spotlight on our community engagement and provide a platform for our Hispanic and Latino communities in Central Washington.
Objectives:
Our committee works towards the following objectives:
- Honor local leaders
- Build a strong reputation
- Foster community connections
- Launch an impactful media campaign
- Streamline the nominations and selection process
